What Sat Alert is

Sat Alert carries emergency alerts and team messaging for critical teams, on the phone they already carry. An alert reaches the people it is addressed to, and the control room sees who has acknowledged it.

It is built for links that are slow or barely there. The app works over broadband and cellular, and over satellite, where it sends far less so that a message still gets through.

Getting set up

You cannot sign yourself up. Your organisation's administrator gives you an enrolment code; type it into the app when it asks, and the phone joins your organisation's team.

If something is not working

Alerts are not arriving

Check that notifications are allowed for Sat Alert in iOS Settings, and that a Focus is not holding them back — a Focus such as Sleep or Do Not Disturb will silence alerts unless Sat Alert is allowed through it.

The enrolment code was refused

Enrolment codes expire. Ask your administrator for a new one, and type it in as it was given to you.

On satellite

Over a satellite link the app deliberately sends and fetches less, so a message can take longer to arrive and older history may not come down with it. That is expected, not a fault. The alert itself is always sent first.
